Adriana Varejão em Buenos Aires

A partir de amanhã, às 19h, o Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (Malba) abre suas portas à principal artista plástica contemporânea brasileira, a carioca Adriana Varejão. A exposição é uma itinerância da grande retrospectiva de sua obra que ocupou os MAMs do Rio de Janeiro e de São Paulo, no ano passado. A curadoria é de Adriano Pedrosa.

Estive visitando a exposição hoje. As paredes brancas, altas e bem iluminadas do museu localizado no bairro de Palermo estão tomadas pelos azulejos em carne viva, os pratos inspirados no português Bordalo Pinheiro (1846-1905), as investigações sobre a obra de  viajantes, como Frans Post (1612-1680), os auto-retratos da artista como moura e indígena, a homenagem a Lucio Fontana (1899-1968), e outras.

“Sempre há diálogo entre minha obra e o público hispano-americano por meio do barroco. Creio que aqui na Argentina não será diferente”, disse a artista à Folha, em entrevista realizada no museu. “Essa ideia do barroco como contraconquista, como apropriação de algo que é depois devolvido à Europa é algo que compartilhamos vários países.”

A mostra reúne 40 trabalhos, que remontam em ordem cronológica a trajetória da artista, desde os anos 90. Entre elas, estão “Terra Incógnita”, “Mares e Azulejos”, “Saunas e Banhos” e “Pratos”. Destaca-se, entre várias, “Reflexo de Sonhos no Sonho de Outro Espelho (Estudo sobre o Tiradentes de Pedro Américo)”, de 1998, que participou da bienal de 1998 e é uma investigação a partir da tela “Tiradentes Esquartejado” (1893).

Varejão comentou a efervescência do mercado brasileiro. “Os artistas jovens vão à leilão muito cedo e são pressionados a manter um nível que é difícil manter sem ter atingido a maturidade necessária.” A seu lado, Pedrosa acrescenta que movimento está acontecendo no mundo todo, mas que no Brasil adquire uma particularidade pelo fato de o país estar passando por bom momento econômico e de projeção internacional.

A mostra finalmente se inaugura depois de ficar parada por problemas de alfândega no Brasil. “É uma burocracia absurda. Entrar e sair com arte do Brasil é um problema”, disse Adriana. A exposição ocupa o segundo andar do museu, até o dia 10 de junho. Mais informações em www.malba.org.ar.
