Os “kelpers” preparam sua festa

Às vésperas do referendo em que decidirão se querem ou não seguir fazendo parte do Reino Unido, os malvinenses começam a viver o clima da votação dos próximos dias 10 e 11 de março. Nesta semana foi lançada uma coleção de selos comemorativos, nos quais diferentes mãos são mostradas inserindo o voto numa urna que tem a imagem do mapa do disputado arquipélago.

As ilhas são reivindicadas históricamente pela Argentina, desde que os ingleses expulsaram o grupo de colonos que as habitavam em 1833. Em 1982, uma cruel guerra praticamente destruiu o sonho argentino de reavê-las. A vitória britânica foi avassaladora e vergonhosa para a ditadura militar que controlava a Argentina.

Em sua última edição, por exemplo, o jornal “Penguin News” publicou uma entrevista imaginária com o chanceler Hector Timerman. Principal voz do governo kirchnerista na campanha argentina pelo retorno das ilhas a seu poder, Timerman é bastante satirizado pelos “kelpers”.
