Não é de hoje que os grandes aeroportos se tornaram um tormento da vida moderna. Do hotel em que estou, no centro da cidade, vejo toda hora os aviões descendo, com uma proximidade assustadora.

A aparente boa notícia é que o aeroporto Mariscal Sucre vive seus últimos dias, será aposentado na semana que vem e substituído por um novo, a cerca de 20km do centro, em Talabela. Nos últimos 30 anos, acumulou algumas passagens de puro terror. Foram quatro acidentes causados por choques de aviões contra edifícios da capital, como em São Paulo, perigosamente próximos à pista de aterrissagem.

Na semana passada, o jornal inglês “The Guardian” publicou um vídeo com a visão dos pilotos que descem em Mariscal Sucre. Que o governo local esteja finalmente construindo um novo e moderno, talvez mais seguro, aeroporto, é uma boa notícia, e um exemplo a ser seguido por algumas urbes do continente.
