A mais importante banda de rock do México fará três shows no Brasil em março. No Auditório Araújo Vianna (Porto Alegre), no dia 6, no Circo Voador (Rio de Janeiro), no dia 7, e no Cine Joia (São Paulo), no dia 8. O Cafe Tacvba, formado por Rubén Albarran (vocais), Emmanuel Del Real (teclados) e os irmãos Joselo (guitarra) e Enrique Rangel (baixo), é a principal referência do rock latino-americano nos últimos 20 anos. O nome do grupo é esse mesmo. Antes era Tacuba, mas tiveram de mudar a grafia por conta de um bar do mesmo nome em seu país-natal.

A banda, que também fará shows na Argentina e no Chile, vem à América do Sul apresentar “O Objeto Antes Chamado Disco”, seu mais recente trabalho, gravado em Buenos Aires, Santiago, D.F. e Los Angeles. No link acima, é possível ouvir o disco inteiro, gravado ao vivo e com pequenas audiências. O álbum chega em tempos em que a violência do narcotráfico chegou ao pop, ameaçando e calando bandas de diferentes estilos. As vítimas mais recentes foram os 17 integrantes da Kombo Kolombia, sequestrados e mortos depois de tocar numa festa particular. Ameaças e sequestros têm sido frequentes, e os principais alvos são os conjuntos de “narcocorridos”, que fazem referência à violência.

O Cafe Tacvba chama o que faz de “rock chilango”, ou seja, que vem da periferia do D.F. (Cidade do México). O termo “chilango” é depreciativo e usado como forma de discriminação, mas a banda o assume e leva como bandeira. Seu som mescla o acústico com o eletrônico. E também sintetiza tradições musicais, a música ranchera, folclórica, com o rock das grandes cidades. As letras são bem mexicanas, no sentido de que fundem a linguagem urbana dos grandes centros à superstição e ao misticismo tão típicos deste país.

A quase dez anos de sua obra mais destacada, “Re” (1994), o grupo revisita a ironia e a linguagem escrachada, mas, neste sétimo álbum de estúdio, se nota o passar dos anos nos vocais mais maduros e nas letras mais introspectivas. Também estão elementos de “Reves/Yo Soy” (1999), quando a banda se lançou definitivamente nos sintetizadores em busca de um som que definia como “extraterrestre”. A produção é do onipresente Gustavo Santaolalla, que a essa altura transforma em “mainstream” o que toca. Não é o que acontece aqui porque a banda mantém o frescor de uma gravação ao vivo.

O “Cafeta” causou algum barulho no Brasil e deixou saudades depois de se apresentar no festival MTV Tordesilhas, nos anos 90, mas nunca emplacou de verdade, como todo rock de língua hispânica de um modo geral. Quem estiver nessas cidades no mês que vem não deve perder a oportunidade de vê-los ao vivo, já que a iniciativa para levar bandas assim ao Brasil parece ocorrer de 20 em 20 anos.
