Mujica é pop

Depois de passar uns dias em Montevidéu, apenas confirmei que a simpatia que os uruguaios têm por seu presidente, Jose “Pepe” Mujica, 78, se estende dos apoiadores ao críticos. Afinal, mesmo estes tendem a tratá-lo com complacência e bom humor. Já os seguidores o consideram um revolucionário que atualizou sua agenda de modo positivo. Da Argentina, e de outros países vizinhos também, vem o olhar que mescla um pouco o folclórico com o exemplar. Mujica é o presidente que não quer ostentar, doa dinheiro a pobres, vive num rancho, dirige um fusca. Perto da multimilionária vizinha Cristina Kirchner, acaba parecendo um herói da ética.

Pois a revista britânica “Monocle”, em seu mais novo número, também destilou sua simpatia pelo líder tupamaro. Dedicou-lhe um pequeno perfil, chamando a atenção para seu modo de vestir-se, despojado e informal. Para os ingleses, Mujica é “mais um avô bonachão do que um tomador de decisões”, e chama a atenção por se tratar de “um dos líderes mais humildes do mundo”. Seu estilo é definido como “relaxado” e a revista refere-se à surrada jaqueta que veste como um modo de proteger-se dos invernos do Río da Prata mas também de esconder um duro negociador. O desenho, ainda, mostra o presidente sorridente, com os cabelos desalinhados, como se tivesse acabado de soltar uma de suas famosas frases espirituosas. Desfecho impensado para o guerrilheiro que passou uma década preso durante a ditadura em seu país.
