Com um atraso indesculpável, a obra clássica do dramaturgo pernambucano Nelson Rodrigues (1912-1980) só agora começa a ser conhecida na Argentina. Culpa dos editores locais, desinformados? Das autoridades culturais brasileiras, até hoje desinteressadas em difundir sua obra entre os países-vizinhos? Da família do autor, que até hoje coloca entraves para a divulgação de seu legado? Ou apenas mais um sinal de distância e apatia do (não) intercâmbio cultural entre os dois países irmãos? Talvez tudo isso junto.

A boa notícia é que isso está mudando. Agora que se aproxima o centenário de nascimento do escritor, a ser comemorado no próximo dia 23, a Embaixada do Brasil em Buenos Aires atua em algumas iniciativas para tornar mais conhecido entre os portenhos o autor de “Vestido de Noiva” (1943) e “Os Sete Gatinhos” (1958).

Em abril, o autor foi o homenageado do estande do Brasil na Feira Internacional do Livro de Buenos Aires. Na semana passada, teve início um ciclo de cinema, no auditório da embaixada, com as principais adaptações de suas obras. O evento ocorre todas as terças-feiras, e é gratuito. A primeira foi “A Falecida” (1965), de Leon Hirszman, com apresentação e comentários do pesquisador e dramaturgo argentino Ricardo Holcer. Amanhã será a vez de “Boca de Ouro” (1963), dirigido por Nelson Pereira dos Santos.

Ao mesmo tempo, saem agora em dois volumes os textos do sensacional “A Vida como ela É” (1972),  que em espanhol ficou: “La Vida Tal Cual Es”, pela editorial Adriana Hidalgo. Trata-se da primeira tradução, na Argentina, da obra do autor. O lançamento mereceu espaço, ainda que reduzido, em suplementos culturais portenhos.

É difícil entender como um escritor que tem tudo para fazer sucesso por aqui, pela dramaticidade e o fatalismo de suas histórias, demorou tanto a fazer o caminho entre o Rio de Janeiro e o Río da Prata. Por enquanto, a quantidade de autores brasileiros conhecidos na Argentina é ínfima, e se reduz a nomes como os de Clarice Lispector, Jorge Amado e Machado de Assis. A recíproca, infelizmente, não é muito melhor, e os argentinos conhecidos no Brasil, de modo mais amplo, são também poucos e óbvios: Jorge Luis Borges, Julio Cortázar e Ernesto Sábato.

Para Brasil e Argentina, com uma fronteira e uma história em comum tão grandes, é muito pouco.
