Jornalistas, as estrelas do noticiário

A Argentina tem uma modalidade de jornalismo, existente em outras as partes do mundo também, mas em menor intensidade, que aqui chega a altos decibéis no debate público. Trata-se do “jornalismo de jornalistas”. Nele, os jornalistas são protagonistas da notícia, a veiculam, a repercutem e capitalizam em torno dela no dia seguinte. São a capa da revista semanal mais importante, dão declarações como se fossem membros do governo ou deputados opositores. Depois, são os mesmos que a deixam passar ao esquecimento.

Nos últimos dias, temos visto a queda-de-braço entre o ultrakirchnerista Victor Hugo Morales e o “independente” Jorge Lanata, nome do momento por conta de seu ruidoso “Periodismo para Todos”, num canal aberto que pertence ao grupo “Clarín”, em guerra com Cristina Kirchner. No último domingo, Lanata levou ao ar uma reportagem em que mostrava que Morales, hoje um reconhecido jornalista apoiador de causas de direitos humanos, durante a ditadura de seu Uruguai natal era amigo e jogava futebol com repressores. Gravações e fotos deixaram Victor Hugo em posição bastante incômoda, porque eram impossíveis de refutar.

Mas o locutor, rosto frequente também em revistas de celebridades, não se intimidou. Em vez de responder às acusações com argumentos, partiu para o ataque. Entre outras coisas, deixou cair o nível do debate fazendo comentários sobre a saúde de Lanata e chamando-o de doente terminal. Lanata é diabético, fuma e faz piada sobre sua própria situação. Um dos quadros de “Periodismo para Todos”, inclusive, satiriza sua própria diálise, encenada ao lado de sensuais enfermeiras.

A guerra pegou fogo, mas é apenas mais um exemplo de como, na Argentina, meia dúzia de servidores da notícia não resistem em transformar-se em notícia eles mesmos. Hoje mesmo, ao comentar o episódio no jornal “La Nación”, Luis Majul fez questão de contar casos de embates dele com Morales, e mencionar seus exitosos livros, como “Él y Ella”.

No mesmo jornal, o secretário de Redação, Carlos Roberts, tem uma coluna em que finge ser um kirchnerista fanático. Tirar fotos ao lado dos entrevistados é outra característica da imprensa local, como na seção de Magdalena Ruiz Guiñazu, no jornal “Perfil”. Do lado do governo, a estrela-mor é Horacio Verbitsky, ex-militante durante a ditadura, uma das principais assinaturas do “Página12”, autor de “El Vuelo” e uma espécie de ministro informal do governo Cristina.

Também Sandra Russo, autora de uma biografia da presidente e integrante do programa “6,7,8”, fala e se porta como uma atriz de novela. O programa, aliás, que vai ao ar pela TV Pública, é o palco maior do embate entre os jornalistas-estrela. Dedicado a “comentar” a cobertura dos meios independentes, ex-estrelas do jornalismo independente, como Orlando Barone, miram direto Lanata, os chefes do “Clarín”, e outros colunistas opositores, como Joaquim Morales Solá e Eduardo Van der Kooy.

A presidente mesmo alimenta o ego dos jornalistas, ao citá-los nominalmente em seus pronunciamentos, como quando chamou de anti-semitas os colunistas Carlos Pagni (“La Nación”) e Osvaldo Pepe (“Clarín”).

Com um mercado editorial que já tem uma tradição própria de “instant books”, os jornalistas-estrela têm mais uma plataforma. Assuntos do momento, como a ascensão do grupo La Cámpora, as confissões de Videla ou o kirchnerismo, rendem quase que mais repercussão pela visibilidade que ganham seus autores do que pelos conteúdos.

É claro que é positivo ter os jornalistas e suas ideias na linha de frente do noticiário. Sinal de que essa é uma sociedade que, admiravelmente, valoriza o jornalismo e consome jornal como poucas no continente. O excesso de ego e vaidade, porém, às vezes incomoda. Quando se vê que uma disputa entre dois jornalistas tomou lugar de uma notícia importante sobre a economia, a pobreza ou os direitos humanos, é porque algo vai mal.

Mas, se o que vale é o espetáculo, esse país nunca decepciona.
