O rombo não se deve à falta de planejamento do orçamento mas sim ao fato de o governo federal ter ordenado a retirada dos subsídios que faziam com que o suprimento de energia fosse mais barato a todos os clientes.

O episódio serviu para alimentar o embate entre a presidente Cristina Kirchner e o chefe de governo portenho, Mauricio Macri. Membros de ambos os governos saíram à público para defender a sua esfera.
