O governo argentino divulgou ontem um spot publicitário sobre os Jogos Olímpicos de 2012 que mostra um atleta local treinando nas ilhas Malvinas (Falklands, para os ingleses), arquipélago que pertence ao Reino Unido e que o governo argentino reivindica.

A propaganda causou surpresa, por contrastar com o clima agressivo dos ataques do governo contra o Reino Unido e, talvez de forma inédita, mostrar as ilhas como elas são hoje para o público argentino, acostumado com fotos de arquivo antigas, muitas da época da guerra (1982).

Muito bem produzido, o spot traz o atleta Fernando Zylberberg, capitão da seleção de hóquei sobre grama, correndo nas ilhas. Ele atravessa suas ruas mais importantes, como a King Street, praias cheias de pinguins, casas com bandeiras britânicas e cabines telefônicas vermelhas típicas. Faz exercícios físicos na frente da Globe Tavern, um dos pubs mais conhecidos das ilhas, e passa na frente do “Penguin News”, jornal local que defende a auto-determinação dos “kelpers”.

O comercial está claramente de acordo com a política argentina com relação às Malvinas, mas tem um ar leve, não confrontativo, que chama a olhar as ilhas como elas são. Bom sinal.

Atualização: Depois da publicação deste post, começaram a surgir as primeiras reações. Enquanto políticos governistas celebram a repercussão do anúncio via Twitter, nas ilhas as autoridades “kelpers” se mostraram indignadas. Dizem que o spot foi filmado sem autorização e que se trata de uma provocação.

Enquanto isso, o atleta Zylberberg, que protagoniza o anúncio, declarou que não sabia que se tratava de um comercial do governo argentino.
