Mais uma jornalista morta no México
As redes sociais e os veículos mexicanos estão repercutindo com destaque a morte da jornalista Regina Martínez, no último fim de semana. Ontem, foi a vez da revista “Proceso”, onde ela trabalhava, publicar um texto sobre seu assassinato, pedindo justiça.
“É o resultado de um país descomposto, de uma situação de violência cotidiana em que atos extremos não são a exceção, e sim a regra cotidiana. O crime agrava o ambiente de hostilidade e de acosso no qual a imprensa independente se vê obrigada a cumprir suas funções.”
Os editores ainda denunciam que edições da revista, uma das que mais amplamente cobrem a questão do narcotráfico no país, são roubadas ou compradas inteiras pelos criminosos para que as notícias não circulem.
A dois meses da eleição presidencial, jornalistas seguem morrendo no México enquanto investigam a violência da guerra ao narcotráfico, que já fez 50 mil vítimas no país. Em abaixo-assinado divulgado ontem via Twitter, um grupo de mais de 200 profissionais de imprensa do país lembram que o crime contra Martínez foi antecedido por outras cinco mortes de jornalistas no Estado de Veracruz. Nenhum deles foi elucidado.
Martínez foi morta por estrangulamento no banheiro de sua casa, em Xalapa, estado de Veracruz. A autópsia revelou que ela levou vários golpes antes de morrer. Com mais de 30 anos de profissão, estava trabalhando numa reportagem sobre a morte de um ativista social local, Rogelio Martínez.
O México já é o país latino-americano mais perigoso para o exercício da profissão. Entre 2000 e 2011, foram mortos 74 jornalistas. Só no ano passado, foram 11. Por enquanto, nem o presidente em exercício, Felipe Calderón (PAN), nem os candidatos a sucedê-lo apresentou propostas concretas para atacar o problema.
