Turnê Botero

O pintor colombiano Fernando Botero cumpre 80 anos no próximo dia 19 e uma turnê mundial de um conjunto de 80 esculturas de sua autoria parte de Assis (Italia) com destino a várias cidades do mundo, entre elas, São Paulo.

Além disso, duas mostras já estão em cartaz. Uma na Cidade do México, no Palacio de Bellas Artes, “Botero: una Celebración”. Trata-se da mais completa reunião de trabalhos do artista, com 177 obras que trazem suas tradicionais figuras gordas, de vários momentos de sua carreira. A mostra traz desde peças do começo de sua trajetória até a série sobre torturas na prisão de Abu Graihb, no Iraque.

A série também passou pelo Museo de la Memória chileno, de Santiago, que está com uma exposição do colombiano em cartaz. Para este mês, está prevista ainda uma homenagem em Medellín, sua cidade-natal, com a exibição de uma nova obra sua, “Via Crucis”, inspirada nas artes plásticas do século 16, e que retrata passagem da vida de Cristo.

“Mesclo personagens da América Latina com figuras da Bíblia. Aqui os soldados não são romanos, mas policiais colombianos. Não se trata de política, mas de liberdade artística”, disse, em entrevista ao jornal “La Tercera”.

As influências de Botero são muitas, e vão do quattrocento italiano ao muralismo mexicano. Sua arte é extremamente latino-americana com relação à temática. Agora, com a ofensiva do governo contra o que resta dos grupos guerrilheiros na floresta, seus trabalhos que retratam os personagens do conflito, na selva, ganham relevância.
