Candidatos mexicanos mostram a cara

As eleições mexicanas ocorrem em julho, e os principais candidatos já estão se mexendo para angariar apoio. A votação definirá o sucessor do presidente conservador Felipe Calderón (PAN). Durante sua gestão, o México entrou numa guerra contra o narcotráfico que já fez cerca de 50 mil mortos. A violência é um dos principais pontos do debate.

A candidata de seu partido, Josefina Vázquez Mota, ganhou nessa semana um ilustre aliado. O escritor e prêmio Nobel peruano Mario Vargas Llosa, que  manifestou simpatia pela candidatura da ex-secretária de educação. O autor de “Pantaleão e as Visitadoras” costuma dizer que o Partido Revolucionário Institucional (PIR) exerceu uma “ditadura perfeita”, durante os mais de 70 anos em que ficou no governo. E portanto posiciona-se contra ele.

Em seu spot, Vázquez Mota reivindicou suas origens simples, se disse uma trabalhadora como outros mexicanos e não fez nenhuma referência ao governo de seu antecessor, de mesmo partido. Pode ser uma sugestão de que ela tentará desvincular-se de suas políticas.

O PRI é, por ora, o favorito nas intenções de votos dos mexicanos. Apesar de ter perdido espaço para Vázquez Mota nos últimos meses, o candidato priista, Enrique Peña Nieto, segue em primeiro lugar e se lançou de modo determinado na campanha. Seus spots difundem a ideia de que ele conhece bem o país e o percorrerá por completo até o dia da votação.

Já o candidato da esquerda, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, está fazendo de tudo para apagar a imagem de radical de seu passado recente. Derrotado por Felipe Calderón nas eleições de 2006, López Obrador armou, na época, manifestações ruidosas na rua, mobilizou o Paseo de la Reforma (uma das principais vias do Distrito Federal), provocou cortes de trânsito. Agora, quer ter sua imagem identificada com a de Lula e de outros esquerdistas “moderados”. Como ele é conhecido por suas siglas, AMLO, já se fala que seu nome agora é AMLOve, brincando com a ideia “Lula Paz e Amor”.

Em seu spot, AMLO ataca o PRI e o PAN, e evoca o exemplo dos revolucionários da Revolução Mexicana de 1910 como inspiração para que se construa uma nova história.
