Gabo, 85
Gabriel García Márquez completa nesta terça-feira 85 anos. Não é seu único aniversário. Em 2012, são também 60 anos da publicação de seu primeiro conto (“La Tercera Resignación”), 45 de “Cem Anos de Solidão”, 30 do Prêmio Nobel de Literatura.
Para comemorar, a veterana editora e sua amiga Carmen Balcells lançará em formato de livro eletrônico e com a capa da primeira edição uma versão comemorativa de “Cem Anos de Solidão”.
Quando o livro completou 40 anos, visitei Aracataca, a cidade-natal de Gabo que deu origem à Macondo, do livro. Uma cidade pequena da região costeira da Colômbia, como tantas outras. Naquela época, o prefeito da cidade queria mudar o nome do local, para que passasse a se chamar Macondo de uma vez por todas. Os habitantes rejeitaram. Em sua terra, Gabo não é uma unanimidade. Há quem reclame que abandonou a cidade, que deveria ajudar a construir pontes ou outras obras.
A famosa casa em que viviam os avós do escritor e que inspirou a casa da família Buendía segue de pé, e é de ficar intrigada como um lugar tão simples e tranquilo propiciou o surgimento de tantas e tão desvairadas ideias no garoto que ali cresceu.
Nesta semana, os jornais espanhóis e latino-americanos já começaram a publicar loas e homenagens a este que, de fato, é um dos mais importantes escritores latino-americanos de todos os tempos. Esquecem-se, porém, de lembrar os pontos nebulosos da vida do autor, como o fato de até hoje ser um defensor de Fidel Castro e da ditadura cubana.
Ao contrário do peruano Mario Vargas Llosa, seu rival pessoal e literário, Gabo prefere a vida mais silenciosa, e escolheu morar no México e aparecer pouco ou nada na mídia. Sobre assuntos colombianos, não fala. Sobre literatura, tampouco. Há quase dez anos, começou uma autobiografia, “Vivir para Contarla”, que teria três volumes. Terminou, porém, apenas o primeiro, que conta sua infância e adolescência. Depois, abandonou o projeto. No livro, que é um de seus melhores, vemos que as pessoas e situações “mágicas” na verdade tinham todas raízes na realidade de fatos e pessoas que o Gabo menino conheceu. A infância parece ter sido a parte mais interessante da vida do escritor, tanto que ele não se animou a completar a autobiografia e chegar até os dias de hoje.
Seria interessante conhecer a opinião de Gabo hoje sobre as distorções do termo “realismo mágico”, cuja invenção é atribuída a ele. Assim como saber o que pensa dos jovens escritores que decidiram romper com essa tradição e retratar a América Latina urbana e moderna de nossos dias.
